Oct 15, 2022 - Congrats to Becca and Brycen, for having the lab's first primary research article accepted for publication at Cells Tissues Organs! This manuscript is part of the Young Investigator Award series, for which Dr. Cornelison and others were selected and invited to submit. The manuscript can be found here. 
May 27, 2022 - Natsai passed her qualifying exam. Congrats, Natsai!
May 14, 2022 - Congratulations to undergrads Shane, Becca, Brycen, and Kimia for graduating from UMass! They all have very bright futures ahead 🤩
April 15, 2022 - Congrats to Brycen for being selected to receive the Connecticut 
Valley ACS Award for promise in research from the BMB department! 

Feb 21, 2022 - Becca represented our lab at the annual meeting of the Biophysical Society. She presented her work using macromolecular crowding to produce glioma cell-derived matrices. She also received a travel award to attend, congrats Becca!
Jan 5, 2022 - Becca was honored as one of nine UMass Rising Researchers for 2021! She is the first and only student from BME to receive this award. Congrats, Becca, on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition! Find out more here.
Nov 12, 2021 - Becca presented her work on cancer-cell derived matrices at the virtual Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students. Great work! 
Oct 6, 2021 - We had a great time running the first UMass booth at BMES! Thanks to those who helped us run it. See you all next year in San Antonio!

Sept 1, 2021 - Two new members join the Cornelison Group! We welcome new graduate student Natsai Prisca Nyabadza (B.S. from Smith College) and undergraduate honors thesis student Kimia Abedi (BME).  We're excited to have you join us!

Aug 25, 2021 - Sherly becomes the first student in the lab to pass her qualifying exam. Congrats Sherly!! 
May 21, 2021 - First paper of the lab is now out! Recent graduate Aleeza and I review the current state of microphysiological neural tissue models, with a special focus on fluid flow. Congratulations to Aleeza on her first paper! Read it here​. 
May 14, 2021 - Aleeza graduates from UMass BME and becomes the first lab alumnus! She is off to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to pursue a PhD in BME. Congratulations Aleeza, and best wishes for a bright future!

April 13, 2021 - Sherly is selected as a Teaching Fellow for the College of Engineering! She will develop and lead her own freshman seminar course this coming fall. Congrats on the honor and opportunity, Sherly!

March 23, 2021 - The lab will officially receive its first research grant! A Trailblazer award will be funded through the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) for 3 years to develop cancer-inspired scaffolds for neural repair. - Sherly Makar
 joins the group from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. She will study the anti-inflammatory effects of glioblastoma on the tumor microenvironment. Welcome Sherly! 

Jan 12, 2021 - First paper from the lab was submitted! An invited review on current microphysiological models of the central nervous system with incorporated fluid flow. Stay tuned for the final version! 
Sept 17, 2020 - Dr. Cornelison gave a seminar at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Biomedical Engineering. 
May 8, 2020 - Dr. Cornelison has been appointment as adjunct faculty in the Neuroscience and Behavior program (https://gpls.cns.umass.edu/nsb) as well as in Chemical Engineering starting 9/1/2020.
March 10, 2020 - Dr. Cornelison gave a talk entitled "Pathological fluid flow in brain cancer progression and therapy" as part of the UMass Chemical Engineering Seminar Series!

 Nov 8, 2019 - The lab moved into our new home in the Life Science Lab building, and our first big order of tissue culture supplies arrived! Ready  to make some multicellular models of neural tissue!
